Dubai witnessed a significant cultural moment as Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, met with His Excellency Sheikh Khalifa bin Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities. The discussion took place on the sidelines of the 27th General Conference of the International Council of Museums (ICOM Dubai 2025), held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
This year’s ICOM conference carries historic significance, marking the first time the renowned global gathering is being hosted in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia. The event has brought together cultural leaders from around the world, positioning Dubai as a focal point for dialogue on heritage preservation, creativity, and museum innovation.
During the meeting, both sides highlighted the depth of longstanding ties between the UAE and Bahrain. Their conversation centred on expanding cultural cooperation, with a shared outlook toward building new joint programmes that reflect the intertwined history, social connections, and economic relations between the two nations.
The talks also underscored the role of Arab culture in strengthening global outreach. Both leaders expressed the importance of coordinated efforts in showcasing regional heritage and promoting cultural exchange that resonates with diverse communities. The momentum generated at ICOM Dubai 2025 is expected to support broader regional initiatives aimed at advancing the cultural and creative sectors.
The meeting reflected a forward-looking approach, signalling renewed commitment from both countries to widen their cultural footprint and foster collaboration across the region.
