Dubai AI Week kicks off with AI Retreat & Global Talks

Dubai is all set to host the first-ever Dubai AI Week, starting with the AI Retreat and the launch of the Dubai Assembly for AI. This exciting week will bring together top government leaders, global AI experts, and tech companies from around the world to discuss how AI (Artificial Intelligence) can shape the future.

AI: The Heart of Dubai’s Future

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum—Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Dubai Future Foundation—shared his strong belief in AI as the key to Dubai’s future.

He said that AI is not just a helpful tool anymore. It’s becoming the base for cities that can think, services that can change with people's needs, and governments that can plan. Dubai is not just ready for these changes—it is leading the way.

Sheikh Hamdan highlighted that the government, schools, and companies in Dubai must now make AI a central part of what they do. He said Dubai will start rating government departments based on how well they use AI. Universities will be measured by their AI research and teaching. The city will also recognize companies that are helping grow Dubai’s AI economy.

“This is Dubai’s new way of working,” he said. “Those who don’t start using AI now will fall behind.”

The AI Retreat: A Gathering of Leaders and Experts

The first day of Dubai AI Week begins with the AI Retreat on April 21 at the famous Museum of the Future. This special meeting brings together 150 government leaders and international AI experts. The event will include four private roundtable discussions focusing on:

• Data and governance
• Infrastructure
• Economy and investment
• Talent development

His Excellency Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for AI, Digital Economy, and Remote Work, will open the retreat with a welcome speech. After that, keynote talks will be given by Michael Spranger from Sony AI and Yossi Matias from Google Research.

Dubai Assembly for AI: A Global Event

From April 21 to 25, the Dubai Assembly for AI will take place at AREA 2071 in Emirates Towers. This large gathering will include:

• Delegates from 15 countries, including South Korea, Canada, India, Australia, Germany, Italy, and the UK
• 25 international tech companies
• 18 government departments
• 20 universities and research centers
• 60 AI startups showing off new and exciting inventions

More than 50 talks and sessions will be held, covering topics like:

• The latest AI trends (by Gartner)
• How AI changes the way we work (by Microsoft)
• The future of wearable AI devices (by Meta)
• How to design AI that’s human-friendly (by Yango)
• Using AI and the metaverse in education (by Animoca Brands)

Other Big Events During AI Week

Dubai AI Week runs from April 21 to 25, 2025, and will bring together over 10,000 people from more than 100 countries. Attendees include top thinkers, businesspeople, lawmakers, investors, and tech creators. The goal is to boost the use of AI in many areas, improve people's lives, grow the economy, and prepare for the future.

Dubai AI Week is supported by many important partners, such as Dubai Chambers Digital, Digital Dubai, DEWA (Dubai Electricity and Water Authority), and the UAE AI Office. Big global companies like Meta, OpenAI, Microsoft, IBM, Google Cloud, PwC, Nvidia, Palantir, Cohere, and Elevenlabs are also involved.

Together, these groups are making sure Dubai stays at the front of the global AI movement—helping people learn, create, and build a better tomorrow.
