For those unfamiliar with *Khuda Gawah*, the film was a grand epic drama released in 1992, directed by Mukul S. Anand. The film starred legendary actors Amitabh Bachchan and Sridevi in pivotal roles, with Nagarjuna and Danny Denzongpa among the supporting cast. The story follows Badshah Khan, an Afghan warrior who travels to India to avenge the murder of his beloved’s father. The film’s larger-than-life storyline and unforgettable music have kept it a significant part of Bollywood's cinematic history.
While in Jaipur, Diljit shared his appreciation for the city’s rich cultural heritage, particularly its food. He posted a story on Instagram saying, "BEAUTIFUL PINK CITY JAIPUR RAJASTHAN… It was a Beautiful Experience. Eating Dal Bati Churma is going to be a great pleasure this evening." His words resonated with the locals, and during his performance, he expressed his love for India in an emotional speech. He proudly declared, “Yeh pagdi hamari shaan hai” ("This turban is our pride"), referring to the traditional Rajasthani turban worn by one of his fans on stage.
The heartfelt moment took place when Diljit invited a fan onto the stage, a fan who was wearing a vibrant Rajasthani turban. As the fan received applause, Diljit urged the audience to show appreciation for the turban, describing it as a symbol of Indian pride and beauty. “Inki pagdi ke liye zor daar taaliya,” he said, asking the crowd to clap for the turban. He continued, “Yeh pagdi hamari shaan hai. Yeh humari desh ki khoobsurati hai… (Please clap for his turban. The turban is our pride. This is the beauty of our country.)” The emotional speech underscored Diljit’s deep connection to his roots and his pride in India’s diverse cultural heritage.
Diljit also touched on the incredible diversity of India, remarking, “Har do-teen chaar ghante baad humaari boli, khaana change hojata hai. Yeh humaari desh ki beauty hai. (In every two-three hours, our language and food change. This is the beauty of our country.)” He highlighted the country’s vast cultural differences, celebrating the uniqueness of each region. He ended by expressing his love for the entire nation, saying, “Aur hum jaahan jaahan se hai – koi Jaipur se hai, Koi Gujarat se hai, Delhi se hai, Haryana se hai, Punjab se hai – Hum sab ko pyaar karte hai. Aur hum sab ke saath is desh ko pyaar karte hai. Marwariyo ke liye zor daar taaliyon. (And wherever we are from – Jaipur, Gujarat, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab – We all love each other. And together, we love our country. Please clap for my Marwari brother).”
Diljit’s remarks resonated deeply with his fans, showcasing not only his musical talent but also his genuine appreciation for the diversity and cultural richness of India. The *DIL-LUMINATI TOUR 2024* is a celebration of that diversity, bringing people together through music and shared experiences.
