This collaboration aligns with the goals of the Dubai Research, Development, and Innovation (RDI) Grant Initiative. This initiative, which was launched by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defence, in September 2024, focuses on advancing key sectors, including Proptech, smart mobility, traffic management, and smart grids, under the category of Cognitive Cities.
The agreement was officially signed at Dubai Silicon Oasis, a hub for knowledge and innovation that is part of DIEZ. His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Al Zarooni, Executive Chairman of DIEZ, and His Excellency Eng. Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Director General of DLD, represented their respective organizations during the signing ceremony.
A Tech-Friendly Environment
Dr. Mohammed Al Zarooni emphasized the importance of creating an environment that supports technological innovation. He said, “DIEZ is dedicated to fostering a space where startups, SMEs, and innovative projects in emerging technology sectors can thrive. Dubai is already recognized as a global destination for entrepreneurs with innovative ideas. By working with key organizations like the Dubai Land Department, we are contributing to building a future-ready economy.” He also mentioned that this partnership supports the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which aims to double the size of Dubai’s economy and make it one of the top three global cities by 2033.
Eng. Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita highlighted the significance of supporting the Proptech sector, saying, “It is essential to encourage startups and SMEs to adopt modern technologies like artificial intelligence and blockchain in the real estate sector. This partnership will provide the necessary environment and support to help these companies grow and innovate. Our efforts align with the Real Estate Evolution Space (REES) initiative and the goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33.”
Key Areas of Collaboration
The partnership includes several important areas of cooperation:
On the other hand, DLD will play a crucial role by designing high-quality programs and providing facilities to encourage the use of advanced technologies in real estate. The department will also help companies establish themselves and access new markets. Additionally, DLD will propose interactive platforms, strengthen partnerships with educational institutions for training opportunities, and create better mechanisms to help businesses access funding.
This collaboration is expected to strengthen Dubai’s position as a global leader in real estate technology and innovation, contributing to its vision of becoming a key hub for digital solutions and a future-ready economy.
