Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA)’s Accommodation Complex in Warsan has been awarded the prestigious Platinum Rating in the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification by the US Green Building Council (USGBC). This achievement marks it as the first multifamily project globally to receive this international certification, earning 80 points under LEED Homes v4.1. With this new accolade, DEWA now boasts 10 buildings with LEED ratings, reinforcing its commitment to reducing carbon emissions in Dubai and achieving net zero.

“We are dedicated to realizing the wise directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to embed sustainability as a cornerstone of development and establish Dubai as a smart, sustainable city and the best place to live globally. This supports the ‘Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 2033’, which aims to position Dubai as a global leader in quality of life. DEWA was among the first organizations in Dubai to adopt green building concepts. In 2019, DEWA achieved a significant milestone with Dubai obtaining the Platinum Rating in the LEED for Cities certification from the USGBC, making it the first city in the MENA region to earn this prestigious certification. We are committed to increasing the number of sustainable buildings that use innovative methods to conserve natural resources, implement best practices in sustainable design, use environmentally friendly materials, and enhance energy and water efficiency. The Platinum Rating for DEWA’s Accommodation Complex in Warsan reflects our dedication to improving employee happiness and quality of life, providing a safe, positive, and healthy environment that boosts efficiency and productivity,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.
