Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is once again demonstrating its commitment to social responsibility by launching its annual awareness campaign aimed at promoting sustainable habits among stakeholders. Dubbed the ‘Welcome Summer with Green Habits’ campaign, it kicked off in June 2024 and will run through August, focusing on enhancing the efficiency of electricity and water usage during the summer months.

The initiative seeks to educate society members on the importance of responsible consumption and adopting sustainable lifestyles to safeguard the environment and conserve precious resources. DEWA aims to achieve this by introducing stakeholders to its innovative digital services and tools, empowering them to proactively monitor and manage their consumption while swiftly identifying and addressing water leaks.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, emphasized the significance of collective action in supporting sustainability and combating climate change. As the UAE continues its commitment to sustainability through the extended Year of Sustainability in 2024, DEWA remains at the forefront, leveraging cutting-edge technologies to engage stakeholders in the pursuit of a greener and more sustainable future.

Throughout the campaign, DEWA will host a series of internal and external lectures, competitions, and interactive activities, complemented by virtual sessions to familiarize individuals with its digital services. These initiatives aim to empower stakeholders to optimize their electricity and water usage while cultivating sustainable habits both at home and in the workplace.

DEWA's website and smart app serve as essential tools for customers to track their consumption through the Smart Living dashboard, accessing comprehensive reports on their usage patterns. The ‘My Sustainable Living Programme’ enables customers to benchmark their consumption against highly efficient homes in their locality, fostering a culture of efficiency and conservation.

Additionally, DEWA offers practical solutions such as the ‘Away Mode’ feature for monitoring consumption while away, along with exclusive discounts on smart home technologies through the DEWA Store. The utility also provides the ‘High Water Usage Alert’ service, alerting customers to potential leaks in their water connections beyond the meter, thereby facilitating timely interventions to mitigate water wastage.

By engaging stakeholders and providing them with the tools and knowledge to make informed decisions, DEWA continues to drive sustainable practices and inspire collective action towards a more environmentally conscious society.
