Delhi authorities are intensifying their investigation into this week’s car blast near the historic Red Fort, exploring potential links to a recent series of arrests in Jammu and Kashmir. The explosion, which killed eight and injured over 20, has raised concerns over coordinated anti-terror activities across multiple states.
According to sources familiar with the probe, seven men from Kashmir—including two medical doctors—were detained hours before the Delhi blast on suspicion of possessing arms and bomb-making materials. During the raids, police recovered two pistols, two assault rifles, and approximately 2,900 kg of explosives. Investigators are now examining whether the Delhi blast driver was connected to the arrested doctors.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA), India’s federal anti-terror agency, has taken over the case and is working alongside Delhi Police to trace all potential links. Both agencies have refrained from disclosing specific details or naming any suspects at this stage.
Authorities are treating the incident under stringent anti-terrorism laws, reflecting the seriousness of potential organized threats in the national capital. Security has been heightened around key landmarks, including Delhi’s Red Fort, India Gate, and other public areas.
This investigation highlights the ongoing challenges Indian authorities face in combating terrorism and ensuring the safety of citizens in high-risk urban centers.
