His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, recently visited GlobalFoundries, a leading global semiconductor manufacturing company that is predominantly owned by Mubadala Investment Company.

During his visit, Sheikh Khaled engaged with GlobalFoundries' executive leadership and toured several key facilities within the company. He took a particular interest in the Innovation Centre, where he gained insights into the latest advancements in semiconductor technology. These innovations are critical for providing essential solutions across various industries, including automotive, telecommunications, and data centers.

His Highness also visited the company's control center, where he received a briefing on the advanced operational systems that facilitate smooth semiconductor production. These systems are designed to adhere to the highest international standards and specifications, ensuring that the diverse needs of key industries are met effectively.

Emphasizing the UAE’s dedication to enhancing cooperation with Singapore, Sheikh Khaled highlighted the importance of collaboration in vital technological sectors, particularly semiconductor manufacturing. He expressed the UAE’s commitment to supporting comprehensive and sustainable economic and technological development in areas of mutual interest between the two nations.

Mubadala Investment Company initially invested in GlobalFoundries in 2009, recognizing the growing significance of chip fabrication as a critical enabling technology in today’s world. Since then, Mubadala has played a pivotal role in shaping the semiconductor sector. GlobalFoundries operates on a global scale, with facilities in the US, Europe, and Asia, producing technology that supports billions of electronic devices. Notably, GlobalFoundries achieved a significant milestone with its Nasdaq IPO on October 21, 2021, which became the largest semiconductor IPO globally by market capitalization.
