The Congress submitted a memorandum to the Election Commission of India (ECI) concerning the slowdown of vote counting and delayed data updates from polling stations in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar constituencies. The party urged the ECI to intervene and ensure a smooth and timely counting process.
In the memorandum, the Congress highlighted concerns about the sluggish pace of counting in various parliamentary constituencies nationwide, despite objections raised by party agents, workers, and candidates. They emphasized the need for prompt action to address these issues.
Additionally, the memorandum noted a lack of detailed round-wise status and total round counts for parliamentary constituencies in online polling data accessed around 2:30 pm.
Abhishek Manu Singhvi, leading the Congress delegation, clarified that they did not make allegations but rather sought guidance from the ECI. He acknowledged the respectful hearing provided by the Commission and mentioned that the ECI explained the situation thoroughly, agreeing to issue directives to prevent further delays.
