The agency took the situation to its official Sina Weibo account to address it. They said, “We fully accept feedback and suggestions, and we sincerely reflect on our shortcomings and apologize for them.” They also requested the public to give Zhao the time and space she needed to recover and promised to support her through this challenging time.

The company assured fans that they are working closely with Zhao to manage her schedule. “We strive to plan her work after mutual agreement and careful consideration,” the statement said. However, they firmly stated, “We will not tolerate any baseless and malicious slander and apologize to those unjustly affected by such rumours.”

Fans and netizens have been deeply concerned about Zhao’s health. Recent videos circulating online showed the 26-year-old star struggling to walk steadily and even failing to hold a spoon, sparking widespread speculation. Some social media users suggested that her agency might share some responsibility for her condition, leading to further debates online.

Zhao addressed these concerns directly, apologizing for causing worry and explaining that she started feeling depressed in 2019. However, she initially ignored the signs. She shared the timeline of her illness to help others understand what she has been through.

A Timeline of Zhao Lusi’s Struggles

In 2021, her mental health issues began showing physical symptoms, including skin allergies. Despite seeking medical treatment, these symptoms persisted. It was then that Zhao decided to consult a psychologist to help with her emotional stress.

By 2023, her condition worsened. She experienced a series of physical ailments such as pneumonia, emphysema, pityriasis rosea, urticaria (hives), night sweats, and hearing loss. On top of this, Zhao faced personal tragedies involving her relatives, which made it harder for her to focus on her health.

In 2024, the actress began experiencing even more severe symptoms, such as frequent dizziness, joint and neck pains, retching, and worsening allergies. At the time, she thought these were just side effects of her allergy medications and continued to downplay her struggles.

Raising Awareness About Mental Health

Zhao shared that depression is a serious illness that cannot simply be overcome by “cheering up” or “talking about it.” She encouraged the public to take mental health seriously and to value psychological treatments.

In her emotional post, Zhao also revealed painful experiences from her past, including being slandered and even physically harmed by a teacher and later by a company staff member. Despite everything, Zhao stressed that she does not want her illness to be used as a publicity stunt.

Zhao’s Acting Career

Zhao Lusi is beloved for her roles in popular dramas like The Romance of Tiger and Rose, Dating in the Kitchen, The Long Ballad, and The Story of Pearl Girl. Fans have flooded social media with messages of love and support, hoping for her swift recovery.

This heartfelt revelation has sparked important conversations about the need for a greater understanding of mental health issues, not just for celebrities like Zhao, but for everyone.
