China has said that the United States spied on its computers during the Asian Winter Games held in February. The spying was done by the US National Security Agency (NSA), according to China. This was shared by police in Harbin city and reported by Xinhua, a news group in China.

The Chinese police said that the spying was done on important places like energy plants, roads, water supply, phone systems, and even places where China studies weapons. These places are in Heilongjiang, the part of China where the games happened.
The police said that three Americans were behind the attacks. Their names are Katheryn A. Wilson, Robert J. Snelling, and Stephen W. Johnson. China has now put these three people on a wanted list. Police said these people attacked not only government computers but also big Chinese companies like Huawei.
The report also said that two American universities helped in the spying. These are University of California and Virginia Tech. But the report did not say exactly what they did.
The report said the biggest attack happened on February 3, the day of the first ice hockey match. The attackers tried to break into the Games’ computer system that had names and personal details of athletes and staff.
China said the US used hidden tools inside Microsoft Windows computers to do the spying. They also used fake IP addresses and rented computers from Europe and Asia to hide their real location.
This comes as China and the US are already fighting over spying and hacking. The US often says that Chinese hackers attack US government and companies. But now China is also saying that the US does the same thing to them.
Just last month, the US said that some Chinese hackers attacked US defense, trade offices, and even governments in Taiwan, India, South Korea, and Indonesia.
China said it has never spied on other countries. But in December, China said it found two US hacking attacks on Chinese tech companies. These attacks tried to steal business secrets.
This shows that both countries are now blaming each other for spying and hacking. And now even big events like the Asian Winter Games are being affected.
