Students in the UAE who appeared for the CBSE board exams now have the opportunity to review their answer sheets online and verify the marks assigned to them. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has introduced this new initiative, allowing candidates to access a link provided for five days following its activation. By paying a specified fee, students can avail themselves of this service to address any concerns regarding their marks.
The process will commence the day after the announcement of the board results. The CBSE recently announced through its official website that the results for class X and XII are expected to be declared after May 20, 2024. Pramod Mahajan, Principal of Sharjah Indian School, explained that students will find a link posted on the board's website, enabling them to view the marks awarded by examiners.

Each subject's review will require a fee of approximately Dh23 or Rs500 per student, with non-resident Indian (NRI) students required to remit the fee in Indian rupees to the CBSE's account. Mahajan highlighted CBSE's transparency and vigilance in the correction process, offering students the option to view their answer sheets online or obtain a Xerox copy for the first time.
Additionally, the CBSE already has a process for revaluation of marks, where students can apply for revaluation if they believe they have received fewer marks. Sangita Chima, Principal of Amity School Dubai, emphasized that the shift to competency-focused questions will benefit both teachers and students, providing a clear understanding of expected responses.
Furthermore, this initiative will expedite the process, ensuring transparency and fairness as students and parents can immediately access the evaluated answer scripts. However, some stakeholders have expressed concerns about the inclusivity of the paid service and the potential penalization of teachers for discrepancies in marking.
Abhilasha Singh, Principal of Shining Star International, shared mixed feelings towards the government's innovative step, acknowledging its supportive nature for students but also raising concerns about its inclusivity and the potential penalties for teachers. Despite these concerns, the new service represents a significant step forward in leveraging technology to enhance transparency and fairness in the evaluation process.
