Infamous Canadian serial killer Robert "Willie" Pickton, known for his heinous crimes, has passed away following a prison assault. The Correctional Service of Canada confirmed the 71-year-old's demise, revealing the incident occurred on May 19 at Port-Cartier Institution in Quebec.
Pickton was serving a life sentence, having been convicted in 2007 for six counts of second-degree murder, linked to the deaths of 26 women. His modus operandi was chillingly unique; he targeted vulnerable women, primarily prostitutes and drug addicts, luring them to his farm under false pretenses.
The victims, including Mona Wilson, Sereena Abotsway, Marnie Frey, Brenda Wolfe, Andrea Joesbury, and Georgina Papin, among others, had disappeared from Vancouver's Downtown Eastside neighborhood between 1980 and 2001.

Pickton's farm became a macabre scene of horror, as investigations unearthed the remains or DNA of 33 women out of the 49 he claimed to have killed. Shockingly, human remains, such as skulls and feet, were discovered on the property, painting a gruesome picture of his atrocities.
During his trial, harrowing testimonies revealed Pickton's sinister practices, including cutting up bodies in the dead of night and boasting to an undercover officer about strangling victims and feeding their remains to his pigs.
The trial also uncovered a disturbing revelation: health officials issued warnings about pork products potentially containing human remains, prompting fears among consumers who may have purchased meat from Pickton's farm.
Despite overwhelming evidence, Pickton maintained his innocence, rarely displaying emotion and declining to testify. However, in a recorded conversation with an undercover officer, he callously confessed to his crimes, claiming to have killed 49 women and aspiring to reach a grim tally of 50 victims.
Following Pickton's demise, Canada's correctional service initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the assault that led to his death. The tragic saga of Robert Pickton serves as a chilling reminder of the depths of human depravity and the enduring quest for justice for his victims and their families.
