Ahead of the November 5 US presidential elections, the Foundation for India and Indian Diaspora Studies (FIIDS) has launched a new campaign aimed at boosting the policy influence and voter turnout of Indian-Americans. The campaign, named "Indo American Votes Matter," highlights the critical role that this community can play in shaping the nation’s future.

Indian-Americans, who number approximately 4.5 million in the United States, are concentrated in key swing states like Florida, Georgia, Arizona, Virginia, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. This makes their vote potentially decisive in crucial races. The campaign will feature a comprehensive survey to gather Indian-Americans' views on significant domestic and international policy issues.
Khanderao Kand, chief of policy and strategy at FIIDS, remarked, “With a sizable population in swing states crucial to the presidential elections, Indian-Americans have a unique opportunity to make an impact.” He stressed that both the Republican National Committee (RNC) and the Democratic National Committee (DNC) should consider the policy preferences of Indian-Americans seriously.
The campaign aims to increase voter registration among Indian-Americans, with a goal of engaging over one million voters in the upcoming election.
