Who is Bill Gates?
Bill Gates, whose full name is William Henry Gates III, was born in 1955 in Seattle, USA. He started learning how to write computer programs when he was just 13 years old.
He later joined Harvard University but left in his third year to start Microsoft along with his childhood friend Paul Allen. The two of them created an early computer system called MS-DOS, which later became what we now know as Windows. It became the most used software in offices all around the world.
Gates became known as a smart and tough leader. Some people criticized him, saying he used Microsoft's power in ways that weren’t fair to other companies. In the late 1990s, the U.S. government won a legal case against Microsoft for this.
In 2000, Gates stepped down as CEO and handed over the role to Steve Ballmer, who was also his friend from Harvard. After that, Gates focused more on helping people through the charitable foundation he started with his then-wife, Melinda.
In 2020, he resigned from Microsoft’s board of directors. Around that time, it was revealed that he had once been in a relationship with an employee in the past.
