Manama: Bahrain’s Public Prosecution has mandated the pretrial detention of several suspects allegedly involved in a spying network associated with Iranian intelligence and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
An official statement revealed that the investigation was sparked by Bahrain’s intelligence services uncovering suspicious activities and foreign connections among the suspects. This led to their arrests on charges of working with outside entities.
The Head of the Terror Crimes Prosecution disclosed that the detained were tasked with observing pivotal sites throughout the Kingdom. Their responsibilities allegedly included gathering vital intelligence that could aid in orchestrating potential future strikes.
Additionally, authorities mentioned that the suspects were directed to record the aftermath of hostilities, taking photographs of destruction, indicating an organized plan to assess operational impacts.
The Public Prosecution has launched a formal inquiry and is questioning the detainees. A judicial order has been issued to hold them in custody while the investigation continues to uncover further links within the alleged network.
Officials reaffirmed that the investigation is still active, prioritizing national security and the identification of any accomplices related to the case.
