The northeastern city of Kharkiv, Ukraine's second-largest, has once again come under heavy Russian bombardment, resulting in the deaths of at least two individuals and injuring over 30 others, including a teenager. Russian forces reportedly dropped around four guided bombs on the city, located approximately 30 kilometers (18 miles) from the Russian border, during the afternoon on Tuesday. This information was confirmed by Governor Oleh Syniehubov.
One of the recent bombings tragically claimed the lives of a man and a woman who were walking along the street at the time. Additionally, at least three other individuals were injured in that particular attack. Earlier reports indicated that 28 people were hurt in a separate incident, which involved a 16-year-old among the casualties. Authorities are currently working to ascertain the type of weapon used in that earlier assault.
Governor Syniehubov and Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported that a civilian production facility had also been struck during the attacks. Terekhov mentioned that this strike led to a significant fire in the area.

Kharkiv has been a frequent target of Russian aggression since the full-scale invasion began in February 2022. Just last week, a guided bomb attack struck a five-story apartment building in the city, injuring ten residents. Additionally, throughout September, there were multiple attacks on the city, including one that killed three people when a Russian bomb hit an apartment building during a critical meeting of world leaders at the United Nations in New York.
In another incident earlier in the month, dozens were injured when a Russian missile struck a shopping mall and a sports center in Kharkiv.
Beyond Kharkiv, other regions in Ukraine reported civilian casualties from Russian attacks on Tuesday. In the southern Zaporizhia region, a 71-year-old man was killed in a drone strike while traveling in his car in the village of Prymorske, located on the Dnipro River near the front line. A woman accompanying him was hospitalized due to her injuries.
In the eastern part of the country, where fighting has intensified, officials reported that a Russian attack in the town of Kostiantynivka resulted in one death and six injuries. The head of the Donetsk region, Vadym Filashkin, stated that Russian forces dropped three guided aerial bombs on the town, striking two residential buildings and causing further distress to the local population.
The ongoing violence underscores the tragic toll that the war continues to inflict on Ukrainian civilians as the conflict persists into its third year.
