A significant portion of the anger was aimed at elected officials, particularly Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez and the Valencia regional leader, Carlos Mazon, with calls for their resignation resonating throughout the crowd. As tensions escalated, bodyguards deployed umbrellas to shield Sanchez and his team from the barrage of mud and projectiles as they hastily retreated from the scene.

The death toll from the floods had risen to 217, prompting the meteorological agency to issue a red alert warning of further heavy rainfall in the area. Mayors from the affected municipalities urgently requested assistance from the government, emphasizing the dire need for support in the wake of the disaster.

Guillermo Lujan, the mayor of Aldaia, expressed the collective grief and anger of the community, stating, "We're very angry, and we're devastated. We have a town in ruins. We need to start over, and I'm begging for help. Please help us."

The flood has left the region reeling, with the 33,000 residents of Paiporta among those grappling with the aftermath of what has been described as the deadliest flooding event in Spain's modern history. As recovery efforts begin, the number of individuals still missing remains uncertain, adding to the community's anguish.
