American Airlines flight makes 'hard landing' at Maui, 6 injured

Six individuals sustained injuries on Saturday afternoon during a "hard landing" at Kahului Airport in Maui by an American Airlines flight originating from Los Angeles, as reported by authorities.

The Maui Police Department responded to the incident around 2:21 pm. One passenger and five flight attendants were confirmed injured by American Airlines, with all transported to a hospital in stable condition and subsequently discharged.

The aircraft, Flight 271, carried 167 passengers and seven crew members, managing to taxi to the gate under its power. The plane was taken out of service for inspection.

This event comes amid a series of aircraft-related incidents reported this month. A California-bound Alaska Airlines flight made an emergency landing after a side wall blew out mid-air, prompting temporary grounding of 171 Boeing 737 MAX 9 jetliners. An Atlas Air Boeing 747-8 cargo plane experienced an "engine malfunction," and a Virgin Atlantic flight was canceled due to missing screws on the plane's wing.

Airbus engineers confirmed that the missing screws in the Airbus A330 did not impact structural integrity or load capability.
