Qatari snooker player Ali Al Obaidli showcased an impressive performance at the 2025 World Snooker Championship, held under the banner of the Qatar Billiard Sports Federation. Competing against top-ranked international players and former world champions, Al Obaidli reached the final, demonstrating his talent and experience on the global stage.

In the final, Al Obaidli faced Poland’s Michal Szubarczyk, a formidable opponent. After six hours of intense play, Al Obaidli was narrowly defeated with a 2-5 scoreline. Both players had delivered flawless performances throughout the group stages, winning all their matches to reach the championship decider.

Michal Szubarczyk came from behind in the final, showcasing exceptional skill and strategic play to claim the world title. His victory highlighted the competitive nature of the tournament, with both finalists putting in hours of concentrated effort and tactical precision during the six-hour contest.

Al Obaidli’s journey to the final included remarkable victories, such as a tense 4-3 win over Singapore’s champion in the round of 16. These key wins built momentum for the Qatari player and demonstrated his ability to remain calm under pressure while facing world-class opponents.

The 2025 World Snooker Championship was a major international event, featuring 90 players from 27 countries. From the preliminary rounds, 16 players advanced to join the world’s top 32 in the main draw, creating a highly competitive environment and testing every participant’s skills.

The championship concluded with an award ceremony where Ali Al Obaidli and Michal Szubarczyk were honoured. Mohamed Al Ramzani, President of the Qatar Billiard Sports Federation, and Mubarak Al Khayarin, President of the International Snooker Federation, presented the trophies and medals. Al Obaidli’s second-place finish received widespread acclaim from officials and fans alike.

Ali Al Obaidli expressed pride in his performance and appreciation for the support from the Qatari federation and his team. He emphasised that the victories in earlier rounds were crucial in keeping him focused and motivated for the final match. His achievements reflect years of dedication and training in the sport.
