In an exciting race held yesterday, the dhow Al Aryam 279, owned by Ahmed Salem Al Hammadi, won the third round of the 60ft Dubai Traditional Dhow Sailing Championship. This race was part of the 2024–2025 marine sports season and was organised by the Dubai International Marine Club (DIMC).

This win was special for Al Aryam 279 as it was their first-ever victory in this category, which has been running since 1993. The boat took first place in the 96th race, beating many strong competitors.

More than 80 traditional dhows took part in the race, with over 1,500 sailors on board. The boats started their journey from deep in the Arabian Gulf, off the coast of Dubai. Once the green flag was raised, they sailed toward the finish line near the Jumeirah shore. It was a beautiful sight with so many traditional boats racing across the sea.
