Ajay Devgn’s Son of Sardaar 2 Hits Cinemas on July 25

Bollywood star Ajay Devgn has officially announced that Son of Sardaar 2 will premiere in cinemas on July 25, 2025, via his social media channel. Fan excitement surged after Devgn shared a teaser poster featuring him atop twin tanks, declaring, “The Return of the Sardaar”.

Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Vijay Kumar Arora, known for his award-winning Punjabi work, the sequel brings back Devgn as Jassi alongside Mrunal Thakur and Sanjay Dutt. Sanjay Mishra replaces Ravi Kishan from the original cast, and this release will posthumously feature Mukul Dev. Music is composed by Himesh Reshammiya, with a script by Punjabi writer Jagdeep Sidhu.

Filming began in July 2024 across diverse locations—Edinburgh, London, Chandigarh, and rural Punjab—offering rich visual backdrops that enhance the film’s blend of comedy and action. The movie is produced under the banners of Devgn Films, Jio Studios, and T‑Series, ensuring robust backing and production quality.

A teaser approved by the CBFC is expected by late June, likely coinciding with the release of Kajol’s upcoming thriller Maa. This early marketing move sets the stage for a grand promotional campaign leading to its July launch.

Son of Sardaar 2 serves as the spiritual successor to the 2012 hit, which grossed over ₹161 crore globally and featured Devgn opposite Sonakshi Sinha and Sanjay Dutt . The original's Indian-hosted, feuding-family plot resonated widely, and the sequel aims to recapture that charm while expanding its narrative scope.

Post-theatrical, the film will debut on Netflix, ensuring reach to international streaming audiences after its box-office run. This strategy aligns with recent industry trends that balance theatrical exclusivity with streaming accessibility.
