Bangkok – An Air India flight from Delhi to London was forced to make an emergency landing in Bangkok on Thursday following a bomb threat that prompted immediate precautionary action by the airline and local authorities.
The aircraft, operating as Air India flight AI-150, had departed from Indira Gandhi International Airport and was cruising en route to London Heathrow when the airline received a security alert indicating a possible bomb threat onboard. Pilots immediately contacted air traffic control and rerouted to Suvarnabhumi Airport, Bangkok, where the plane landed safely.
All over 230 passengers and crew members were safely evacuated as per international emergency protocols. Thai authorities, including airport security and bomb disposal squads, quickly cordoned off the area and launched a full-scale search of the aircraft.

A spokesperson for Air India confirmed, “As a precautionary measure, the flight was diverted to Bangkok following a security threat. All guests were deplaned safely, and we are fully cooperating with local agencies to investigate the matter.”
According to reports from Bangkok airport officials, no explosive devices have been found on the aircraft as of the latest inspection. The bomb squad is continuing its thorough sweep, while forensic experts examine the cargo hold and passenger areas for any suspicious materials or devices.
The Thai Police have initiated a parallel inquiry into the origin of the threat. Early reports suggest the warning may have been sent via an anonymous email, though this remains unconfirmed by official sources. Authorities are not ruling out the possibility of a hoax, but are treating the matter with the highest level of seriousness.
Passengers were taken to a secure terminal area where they were provided meals and assistance. Alternative arrangements are being made for their onward journey to London, pending clearance of the aircraft.
Indian officials in Thailand have been briefed, and the Indian Embassy in Bangkok is providing consular support to any citizens in need. Meanwhile, Indian aviation regulator DGCA is monitoring the situation closely and remains in touch with Thai counterparts.
This incident comes just a day after the tragic crash of another Air India Boeing 787 in Ahmedabad, which killed over 100 people. While the two events are unrelated, the airline is now facing intense scrutiny over both safety and security management.
More updates are expected once Thai authorities release a full report on their investigation. As of now, no injuries have been reported, and passengers have praised the cabin crew for their calm and efficient response under pressure.
