Ahmed bin Saeed Inaugurates GITEX GLOBAL 2024 as Tech Leaders Gather in Dubai

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports, and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, officially opened GITEX GLOBAL 2024 today. This event is recognized as the largest and most prestigious tech and startup gathering in the world.

GITEX GLOBAL 2024 is taking place at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) from October 14 to 18. This year’s edition is the biggest and most international yet, featuring over 6,500 exhibitors, 1,800 startups, and 1,200 investors, alongside representatives from more than 180 countries.

In his address to the delegates and distinguished guests, HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed emphasized the importance of international collaboration in fostering the growth and development of technological ecosystems. He stated, "GITEX GLOBAL holds esteemed international status as an inclusive, influential, and impactful event that inspires innovative practice, technological exploration, and digital transformation across industries. As we welcome the global technology community to the UAE for the 44th consecutive year, GITEX GLOBAL 2024 embodies the UAE’s unwavering commitment to global digital economy leadership."

The Sheikh further remarked, "With each groundbreaking solution presented or every aspirational idea shared, we move closer to a world where technology empowers progress, fuels entrepreneurship, and transforms lives – across our nation and all around the world. GITEX GLOBAL is not only a platform for innovation and collaboration – it's a powerful catalyst for the empowering, opportunistic, and sustainable future we are building in the present."

This year’s theme, ‘Global Collaboration to Forge a Future AI Economy’, aims to create a unique stage for building new connections, launching innovative solutions, forging cross-continental alliances, and accelerating AI-driven socio-economic transformation on a global scale.

The Tech Investment Day launches a comprehensive five-day program. The first day presents a series of sessions that delve into the latest investment trends that are shaping global wealth and unlocking significant business value. A highlight of this day will be the World Future Economy Digital Leaders Summit, where discussions will focus on the projected $13 trillion economic boost from AI by 2030. This summit aims to chart a course for AI-driven economic transformation, addressing various challenges and previewing opportunities in partnerships, policies, and strategic investments.

In addition, the AI Everything segment will host crucial discussions regarding the future of AI in both society and industry. Leading global collaborators in AI will share transformative case studies across sectors such as government, enterprise, and startups. They will also discuss the necessity of transitioning proofs-of-concept into scalable solutions while balancing AI’s potential with creativity and human intuition.

Spanning over 10 halls, AI Everything is set to showcase 3,500 enterprises presenting cutting-edge AI technologies. Many of the world’s most renowned tech giants, including Adobe, Alibaba Cloud, AWS, Dell, G42, Google, IBM, Microsoft, and Nvidia, are among the exhibitors.

Another significant aspect of this year’s event is the debut of GITEX Editions, which aims to fast-track the growth of advanced tech companies. This segment connects 59 top global unicorns with a combined valuation of $400 billion, featuring notable companies like Axelera, DeepL, Insilico Medicine, and Synthesis AI.

With representation from over 180 countries and a nearly 40% increase in international participation, GITEX GLOBAL 2024 connects a diverse range of stakeholders, including governments, enterprises, investors, startups, academia, and researchers, to foster global collaboration.

In addition to the main event, the fully integrated Expand North Star, recognized as the world’s largest startup and investment showcase, is running until October 16 at Dubai Harbour. This collaboration aims to redefine the global digital economy and AI ecosystem.

Also anticipated this week is the Data Centre Symposium, the region’s largest gathering focused on data centers. Scheduled to debut on October 17, visitors will explore the future of data centers, including discussions on AI-driven automation, cybersecurity, and transformative innovations that are shaping the digital landscape of tomorrow.
