The Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority has achieved a significant milestone by obtaining accreditation for the Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS) programme from the American Heart Association (AHA). Alongside this, the authority has also renewed its status as an AHA-authorised training centre, reinforcing its commitment to global healthcare standards.

This accreditation marks a major step forward in strengthening Abu Dhabi’s emergency healthcare system. The ASLS programme is designed to enhance rapid and accurate stroke assessment, improve clinical decision-making, and enable early medical intervention based on evidence-based practices. These advancements are expected to significantly improve patient outcomes and ensure seamless coordination between pre-hospital care and emergency departments.

The renewal of AHA training centre accreditation highlights the authority’s ongoing efforts to equip emergency personnel with world-class skills. It continues to offer specialised training programmes such as Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), along with first aid courses. These initiatives aim to boost the readiness and capabilities of both healthcare professionals and the wider community in handling emergencies.

Brigadier Salem Abdullah Bin Barak Al Dhaheri, Director General of the authority, described the achievement as a strategic milestone. He emphasised that the dual recognition reflects a strong commitment to adopting international best practices, enhancing operational integration, and improving emergency response efficiency.

The achievement builds on the authority’s broader vision to develop an advanced training ecosystem and strengthen partnerships with leading global institutions. It also complements its previous accomplishments in ambulance services, including earning the Canadian Diamond Accreditation, further positioning Abu Dhabi as a leader in healthcare quality and public safety.

Additionally, the authority continues to offer accredited training programmes for medical professionals and the public through the TAMM platform. These programmes play a vital role in improving emergency preparedness, supporting national readiness, and advancing Abu Dhabi’s vision of a safe and sustainable society.
