Abu Dhabi, UAE – In a strategic move to bolster Abu Dhabi’s transportation services, ADQ has assumed the management, operation, and development of the city's toll system, DARB, and the parking system, Mawaqif. This transition is conducted under the regulatory supervision of the Department of Municipalities and Transport, represented by the Integrated Transport Centre (Abu Dhabi Mobility).
The management of both DARB and Mawaqif will now be overseen by ADQ, which will ensure the continuation of high-quality services for users. The integration of these systems into ADQ’s extensive transport and logistics portfolio is expected to drive the evolution of a smart, safe, and sustainable transport network in Abu Dhabi.
Despite this transition, the operations of DARB and Mawaqif will remain unaffected. Both systems will continue to offer their full range of services through their existing digital channels. Regulatory oversight will continue to be provided by Abu Dhabi Mobility, ensuring that standards are upheld throughout the transition.

Since its inception in 2021, the DARB toll system has been managing eight toll gates located at key bridges across Abu Dhabi. This system helps alleviate traffic congestion and encourages the use of public transportation, aligning with the Abu Dhabi Government’s goal to establish the city as a global leader in smart mobility infrastructure.
Mawaqif, launched in 2009, complements DARB by providing structured public parking solutions throughout Abu Dhabi. The Mawaqif system is fully digitalized, featuring mobile phone payment options and integration with the DARB smart application, thereby enhancing the convenience for motorists.
His Excellency Abdulla Al Marzouqi, Director General of the Integrated Transport Centre, commented, “This initiative is part of our broader strategy to strengthen partnerships with leading companies, improve the transportation system, and advance the sector in Abu Dhabi. The ITC will collaborate with ADQ to enhance customer experience and ensure seamless service continuity.”
Mansour AlMulla, Deputy Group Chief Executive Officer of ADQ, emphasized the benefits of this expansion: “By incorporating DARB and Mawaqif into our portfolio, we anticipate creating significant synergies that will yield sustainable financial returns and offer substantial benefits for commuters. These advanced systems address urban mobility challenges and align perfectly with our existing assets in the transport and logistics sector. They contribute to the development of a smart, safe, and sustainable transport network in Abu Dhabi.”
ADQ’s strategy involves bringing together assets across various sectors to foster cluster ecosystems, support portfolio company growth, and create long-term value. This approach enables ADQ to contribute to the diversification of Abu Dhabi’s economy while improving the quality of life through the efficient delivery of essential services, including power, water, transport, food, and healthcare.
