ADQ has entered into a strategic partnership with Ne’ma, the UAE’s National Food Loss and Waste Initiative, to bolster efforts aimed at reducing food loss and waste across the UAE. This collaboration will focus on developing joint initiatives and working with third parties to address food loss throughout the entire value chain—from production to consumption—and promote responsible consumption practices.
Under this partnership, ADQ and Ne’ma will collaborate to identify and address food loss hotspots and systemic gaps using data provided by Ne’ma. This data will help target specific challenges and devise effective solutions to mitigate food loss.

Mansour AlMulla, Deputy Group Chief Executive Officer at ADQ, emphasized the importance of this initiative: "As a major investor in the UAE's food and agriculture sector, we are committed to ensuring that the production of adequate, affordable, and nutritious food is matched by efforts to preserve food as a vital resource. Our collaboration with Ne’ma highlights our commitment to supporting the transformative activities Ne’ma has undertaken over the past two years, and to fostering significant, long-term changes in our food system."
Khuloud Al Nuwais, Chief Sustainability Officer at Emirates Foundation and Secretary General of the Ne’ma Committee, remarked on the significance of the partnership: "This collaboration with ADQ illustrates the crucial role of public-private sector cooperation in achieving the UAE’s goal to halve food loss and waste by 2030, in line with UN Sustainable Development Goal 12.3. By joining forces, we are leveraging innovative solutions to enhance our food systems and ensure that food resource conservation is central to our national food security strategy. Together, we can maximize our impact and drive meaningful change for our communities and the environment."
The UAE relies heavily on food imports, making the task of closing supply chain gaps and scaling sustainable production particularly important. ADQ’s Food and Agriculture cluster is focused on addressing these gaps through investments in agricultural technology and the expansion of domestic farming capabilities.
ADQ’s key assets in the food and agriculture sector include:
This partnership with Ne’ma is part of ADQ’s broader strategy to enhance the resilience of the local food system and strengthen its investments in both domestic and international food and agriculture sectors.
