Abu Dhabi's commitment to advancing healthcare expertise among Emirati women has taken a significant stride with the collaboration between the Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ACTVET) and Nafis. Their joint initiative aims to train 450 Emirati women as healthcare assistants, a move aligned with directives to qualify 10,000 Emiratis for roles in nursing and emergency medicine within the UAE's healthcare sector.
The partnership was underscored by a meeting held at the Fatima College of Health Sciences (FCHS), an institution affiliated with ACTVET, in Abu Dhabi. Dr. Mubarak Saeed Al Shamsi, Director General of ACTVET, and Ghannam Al Mazrouei, Secretary General of the Emirati Talent Competitiveness Council, led the discussions. Notably, students from the inaugural Healthcare Assistant program, jointly conducted by both entities across FCHS branches in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and Ajman, attended alongside officials from ACTVET, the UAE Competitiveness Council, and the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization.

Emphasizing the strategic importance of the partnership, Dr. Al Shamsi highlighted its alignment with the UAE's long-term vision, particularly in developing a skilled local workforce for the healthcare domain. This collaboration exemplifies ACTVET's dedication to empowering UAE Nationals through specialized training programs, an endeavor actively facilitated by FCHS's advanced academic and applied curricula, cutting-edge laboratories, and adherence to global standards.
Ghannam Al Mazrouei echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the comprehensive strategy to engage key stakeholders in achieving the goals of the NAFIS program, which aims to cultivate sustainable human capital within the private sector. He outlined the program's incentives, including financial support and rewards for academic excellence, designed to bolster employment prospects upon graduation.
During the visit, Dr. Al Shamsi and Al Mazrouei toured FCHS's campus, immersing themselves in its state-of-the-art educational infrastructure. From classrooms to simulation labs, they witnessed firsthand the institution's commitment to providing a conducive learning environment equipped with cutting-edge facilities. This hands-on approach underscores the dedication of all stakeholders to nurturing a skilled workforce capable of meeting the evolving demands of the healthcare sector.
