Abu Dhabi Mobility Celebrates One Million Abu Dhabi Link Passengers Since 2020

Abu Dhabi Mobility has celebrated a significant milestone with the completion of one million passenger trips on its Abu Dhabi Link on-demand bus service since its launch in 2020. This service, accessible through a mobile application, seamlessly integrates with the public bus network, offering enhanced mobility options and convenience for residents and visitors alike.

The Abu Dhabi Link service has garnered popularity for its ability to reduce walking distances and waiting times, encouraging more people to opt for public transport. In 2023 alone, the service facilitated 367,000 trips across key locations, including 146,000 trips in Al Shahama, 84,000 on Yas Island, 53,000 on Saadiyat Island, and 84,000 in Khalifa City. Throughout the year, the Abu Dhabi Link app was downloaded 27,000 times, underscoring its growing user base and demand.

Partnering with United Trans and Via, Abu Dhabi Mobility has continuously improved the on-demand bus service, enhancing service quality, expanding coverage, and refining the smart application interface. These efforts have streamlined operations, minimized waiting times, and increased overall passenger satisfaction.

Abdulla Al Marzouqi, Director General of Integrated Transport Centre, expressed pride in achieving this milestone, emphasizing ongoing efforts to leverage cutting-edge technology and real-time tracking to ensure a reliable transport experience. Throughout 2023, Abu Dhabi Mobility expanded service routes and made operational adjustments to meet growing demand, extending connectivity across more residential areas and service hubs.

Since its inception, the on-demand bus service has experienced substantial growth, increasing from 50,000 trips in 2020 to over 300,000 trips in 2023, with projections to reach 400,000 trips in 2024. The service has covered more than 4 million kilometers, fulfilling 80% of all requests and ranking among the top 15% of Via services worldwide.

User feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with the Abu Dhabi Link app maintaining an impressive average rating of 4.6 out of 5 stars. Notably, 85% of users have awarded the service a 5-star rating, highlighting its reliability, convenience, and effectiveness in meeting public transportation needs.

Operating daily from 6 am to 11 pm, Abu Dhabi Link buses provide essential first- and last-mile connectivity solutions, operating on-demand via the mobile app. Serving areas like Yas Island, Khalifa City, Saadiyat Island, and Al Shahama, the service offers affordable travel options at a fare of AED 2 when using the Hafilat card, contributing to sustainable urban mobility in the emirate.
