Abu Dhabi has stopped the rule that said drivers must drive at least 120 kilometers per hour on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Road (E311). This rule was started to make the road safer and to help big trucks move more easily. But now, drivers do not need to follow the 120 kmph minimum speed anymore.
Before, if someone drove slower than 120 kmph on the first or second lane from the left, they would get a fine of 400 dirhams. Many people were not happy with this rule.

One man, G Sahany, said he got a fine because there were army cars in front of him, and he had to drive slowly. He tried to explain to the police, but the fine was not removed. He said he is happy now that the rule is gone.
Another man, said he was surprised when he got a fine. He said the road was full of cars, and no one could go faster than 120 kmph. He uses this road every day for work. He understood the reason for the rule, but he thought it was not fair when traffic was too heavy to go fast. He is also happy that the rule has been removed.
M Mac also said he kept getting fines but didn’t understand why. Later, he learned about the rule online. He said he was confused and glad it’s now cancelled.
This change is part of Abu Dhabi’s plan to make roads better and safer. A few days before, Abu Dhabi also made speed limits lower on some big roads like Abu Dhabi-Sweihan Road and Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed International Road. These changes are made to help all drivers, especially those driving big trucks, to travel safely and without problems.
