The Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Patrol Directorate has announced a temporary ban on the entry of certain heavy vehicles and buses transporting workers to Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, February 13. This measure is part of preparations for the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The ban includes key entry points and bridges such as Sheikh Zayed Bridge, Sheikh Khalifa Bridge, Amsefah Bridge, and Al-Muktaar Bridge. Notably, traffic patrols will be deployed on all roads, and traffic control measures will be intensified through the use of smart systems.
Public hygiene company vehicles and logistic support vehicles are exempt from this prohibition order, as specified by the Abu Dhabi Police.
General Mahmoud Youssef Al-Balouchi, the Director of the Directorate of Traffic and Security Patrols of the Central Operations Sector, clarified that the ban will be in effect from 12 noon to 11:59 pm on Tuesday, February 13.
The reason behind the temporary ban is the anticipated visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Abu Dhabi. During his two-day visit, Modi is scheduled to address more than 60,000 members of the Indian expatriate community at the 'Ahlan Modi' event, which will take place at Zayed Sports City Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Additionally, Modi is set to meet UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and inaugurate the Middle East's first traditional Hindu stone temple in Abu Dhabi during his visit.
