Organized by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority in partnership with ADNEC Group, the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (ADIHEX) has set a Guinness World Record for crafting the largest falcon hood. Official Guinness World Records representatives measured the hood at an impressive 1.95 meters, surpassing the required minimum diameter of 1.65 meters to achieve this remarkable feat.
This accomplishment was realized under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra Region. The record-breaking falcon hood is not just an engineering achievement but also a symbol of Emirati heritage and craftsmanship, emphasizing the UAE's efforts in preserving traditional falconry.
His Excellency Abdullah Mubarak Al Muhairi, Acting Director General of the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, expressed pride in the achievement, stating, “This record is a testament to our national efforts to preserve the Emirati falconry heritage, a crucial part of our identity. We are honored to showcase another milestone in the UAE's journey, highlighting Abu Dhabi’s pioneering role in preserving our heritage.”

Al Muhairi emphasized that every technical and cultural aspect of traditional Emirati falcon hoods was incorporated into the design. The falcon hood is a vital piece of equipment in falconry, used to train falcons by covering their eyes to keep them calm during handling and hunting. The design met all the criteria set by Guinness World Records, making it not only an impressive artifact but also an authentic representation of the UAE's falconry tradition.
Humaid Al Dhaheri, Managing Director and Group CEO of ADNEC Group, added, “Achieving this Guinness World Record at ADIHEX is an honor and reflects our dedication to preserving and celebrating the UAE’s rich cultural heritage. This accomplishment highlights our pride in Emirati traditions and showcases them on a global stage. We hope this record inspires future generations to appreciate and carry forward the legacy of falconry, a tradition that has shaped our history.”
Falconry, with deep roots in ancient Middle Eastern civilizations, has long been a significant part of Emirati culture. The falcon hood, an essential tool for falconers, helps to keep the birds calm by shielding their vision, allowing them to be handled with ease. The record-breaking hood was crafted using traditional Emirati techniques, utilizing camel leather, and was made locally by skilled Emirati artisans.
ADIHEX remains a global event that draws attention to Abu Dhabi's efforts in cultural preservation, attracting enthusiasts from around the world. This latest achievement further solidifies its role in promoting Emirati heritage, blending tradition with innovation, and ensuring the legacy of falconry continues for generations to come
