Abu Dhabi recently held the regional premiere of F1: The Movie at the Yas Marina Circuit, one of the main places where the movie was filmed. The event was a big celebration with a red carpet, special activities for guests, and a cinema made just for the occasion.
Red Carpet and Special Guests
Many important people walked the red carpet. These included leaders from the Creative Media Authority (CMA) and the Abu Dhabi Film Commission (ADFC). They were joined by teams from Etihad Airways, the Department of Culture and Tourism, and Yas Marina Circuit, who all helped in making the movie.
What the Leaders Said
Mohamed Dobay, Acting Director General of CMA, said the event shows how well Abu Dhabi’s creative people and strong support systems work together. He was proud of how Yas Marina Circuit was changed into a movie theatre.

Sameer Al Jaberi, Head of ADFC, said the movie shows that Abu Dhabi is a great place for filming. He added that the strong local film teams and support from partners helped make the film a success.
Filming During Real F1 Race
The movie finished shooting during the Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in December 2024. This was the first time a feature film captured real racing action during a live F1 weekend.
Exciting Experiences for Guests
Guests at the premiere enjoyed driving simulators, luxury car displays, and watch showcases. There was also the official Formula 1 car (APXGP) and the helmet worn by actor Damson Idris at the Met Gala on display. These elements helped bring the world of the movie and F1 to life.
Filming in Abu Dhabi
The film was shot in three different filming schedules in Abu Dhabi. It had 29 shooting days, used 284 local crew members, and offered chances for local students to work and learn through CMA’s training programs.
Filming locations included:
Epic Films helped with the production services. Many volunteers also helped during the event with guest support and managing the red carpet.
F1: The Movie was made by Apple Studios in partnership with Formula 1 Management, the FIA, and all 10 F1 teams. Warner Bros. Pictures is releasing the movie worldwide. The film is now showing in cinemas across the region from June 26, 2025.
