In Dubai, the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has released its annual school inspection results, revealing that 81% of students now attend private schools rated Good or higher, an increase from 77% in the previous year. This improvement benefits nearly 49,500 pupils across the emirate.
A total of 209 private schools with over 360,000 students underwent inspections during the 2023-24 academic year, including 10 schools inspected for the first time. The inspections resulted in 23 schools being rated Outstanding, 48 Very Good, 85 Good, and 51 Acceptable, with no schools rated as Very Weak and two rated as Weak. Overall, 26 schools improved their ratings, while three saw declines.

Aisha Abdulla Miran, Director General of KHDA, emphasized Dubai's standing as a top performer globally in education, citing rankings in international assessments like PIRLS for literacy and PISA for math, science, and reading.
Key statistics from the inspections include:
- 19,782 classroom visits conducted by inspectors
- 4,407 hours of dialogue with students, parents, and school leaders
- 83% of schools offering well-being provisions rated Good or higher
- 90% of schools showing improvement in one or more quality indicators
The inspections highlighted improvements in Arabic and Islamic education outcomes, with more schools achieving Good or higher ratings compared to the previous year. Inclusive education also saw significant progress, with 76% of schools providing Good or higher rated provisions for students of determination.
Looking ahead, the DSIB announced adjustments for the 2024-25 academic year, with most schools not undergoing full inspections except for new schools completing their third year of operation. Quality assurance visits will instead focus on monitoring schools' progress on improvement plans.
Fatma Belrehif, CEO of Dubai Schools Inspection Bureau (DSIB), encouraged parents to review inspection reports to gain insights into their children's schools and reaffirmed the commitment to enhancing Dubai's education quality.
Full inspection reports and individual parent summaries for the 2023-24 academic year are now accessible on the KHDA website and mobile app, providing transparency and accountability in Dubai's education sector.
