3 Dead, 2 Critical in Ohio Shooting; Gunshot Victims Hospitalized

In the early hours of the weekend, tragedy struck in Ohio's capital as three individuals lost their lives, while three others sustained injuries in a shooting incident, as reported by authorities.

Columbus police responded to the distressing scene shortly before 3 am on Saturday in the Italian Village neighborhood, located north of downtown. The area was rattled by what witnesses described as semi-automatic or automatic gunfire, accompanied by vehicles rapidly departing the vicinity.

Upon arrival just two minutes after the initial report, officers were met with a scene of utter chaos, with six individuals found shot. Tragically, two men were pronounced dead at the scene, while a third succumbed to his injuries at a nearby hospital. The victims were later identified as 27-year-old Malachi Pee, 26-year-old Garcia Dixon Jr, and 18-year-old Da’ondre Bullock.

Three additional individuals were rushed to hospitals for treatment, with one listed in critical condition and the other two in stable condition. Thankfully, authorities indicated that all three were expected to survive their injuries.

Deputy Chief Gregory Bodker addressed the media, describing the ongoing investigation as police worked diligently to piece together the events leading up to the shooting. Witnesses, he noted, were cooperating with investigators, shedding light on the harrowing ordeal. While a nearby bar added a backdrop to the incident, it remained uncertain whether any involved parties had connections to the establishment.

At present, no suspects have been identified, and the motive behind the shooting remains elusive. Deputy Chief Bodker emphasized the collaborative effort between law enforcement agencies, with the Franklin County sheriff's office employing a drone to aid in documenting the expansive crime scene. Meanwhile, officers meticulously collected evidence and reviewed surveillance footage in their quest for answers.
