20 Dead in Israeli Airstrike on Gaza Refugee Camp, Hospital Reports

A Gaza hospital reported on Sunday that an Israeli air strike targeting a house in the Al-Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza killed at least 20 people. According to the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, the victims included several children, and rescuers were searching for people trapped under the rubble. The hospital stated, "We received 20 fatalities and several wounded after an Israeli air strike targeted a house belonging to the Hassan family in Al-Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza." Witnesses reported that the strike occurred around 3:00 am local time, and the Israeli army is currently verifying the report.

The Palestinian official news agency Wafa confirmed the casualties and highlighted the ongoing rescue efforts. Fierce battles and heavy Israeli bombardments have been ongoing in the Nuseirat camp since the military launched a targeted operation focusing on the southern city of Rafah in early May. In addition, Palestinian operatives and Israeli troops have been clashing in the Jabalia camp in north Gaza for several days.

Witnesses noted that several other houses were hit by air strikes throughout the night across Gaza, with air strikes and artillery shelling also affecting parts of Rafah. The Israeli military announced that two more soldiers were killed in Gaza the previous day, bringing the total number of soldiers killed in the Gaza military campaign to 282 since the ground offensive began on October 27.
