Images from the scene depicted a significant police presence at the school premises. By around 11:30 am, the police reported that the suspect, who was armed at the time of the incident, had been apprehended in an area of Helsinki without any further complications.
Parents of the students attending the school disclosed to the media that the shooting had taken place within a classroom. In response to the situation, the police issued advisories urging the public to avoid the area and remain indoors, emphasizing not to open doors to strangers.
Finnish Interior Minister Mari Rantanen expressed her shock at the incident, acknowledging the distress and concern felt by many families. She emphasized the need for support and solidarity during such challenging times.
