Abu Dhabi University (ADU) has completed its Inclusion Advocates of Tomorrow programme, an initiative that equips students with the knowledge and tools to advance accessibility and social inclusion. This programme, organised by ADU Innovate, joined hands with the Zayed Authority for People of Determination, Authority of Social Contribution – Ma’an, and Key2Enable to bring innovation into real-world inclusive education.
Over the past year, more than 100 ADU students took part in a structured journey blending theory and practical learning. They explored inclusive design principles, accessibility frameworks, and assistive technologies, while participating in field visits to the Zayed Authority to witness these tools in action in educational settings.
The programme provided hands-on experience with assistive technologies like adaptive keyboards and specialized learning software from Key2Enable, empowering students to understand and address the challenges faced by People of Determination. In parallel, the Community Volunteering Activation Program (CVAP) by Ma’an engaged students in initiatives that promote inclusion across society, ensuring they experience how collaborative efforts can make tangible impacts.
ADU’s initiative not only fosters inclusive innovation but also strengthens the university’s commitment to creating learning environments where every ability is valued. Students trained through this programme are now better equipped to design solutions that remove barriers, making education and community spaces more accessible and equitable.
Through such programmes, Abu Dhabi University continues to position itself as a hub of inclusion and innovation, inspiring future leaders to champion accessibility, empathy, and social progress in every sphere of life.
